  • Walking Trail Map & Information

Lake Parker Park boasts multiple walking trails designed for the enjoyment of casual strollers and serious runners alike. Each of the park's four distinct path systems is color-coded and contains markers to help people orient themselves in the park.

Forest Path: .66 miles; circles the original park built in 1978 and is the path that parallels the Lake Parker shoreline. The vegetative plantings along the Forest Path and the other path systems are Lakeland Parks and Recreation's largest xeriscape landscaping effort. While strolling among the trees, test your physical abilities on the Park's exercise stations. Other park amenities found adjacent to the Forest Path are family-sized picnic sheds, sand volleyball courts, tennis courts, and boat access to Lake Parker.

Water Path: .84 miles; Lake Parker Park's longest loop connecting each of the Park's three other walking paths. The Water Path takes you on a journey through the Park's wetland hardwood forest. If you're quiet and observant, you may get a glimpse at some of the animals that make their home in Lake Parker Park. When in bloom, blue flag iris create a beautiful vista, particularly in the vicinity of Potato Creek Bridge.

Soccer Path: .76 miles; circles the entire soccer complex. While walking among the pine forest and wildflowers, observe Lakeland's finest young athletes practicing and competing.

North Path: .8 miles; the path system's northernmost loop is connected to the southern portion of Lake Parker via the bridge over the Parker Canal. The North Path circles the Park's lawn bowling & shuffleboard facility, pickleball courts, two sand volleyball courts, and corporate picnic pavilions (available for rental).

  • History

Lake Parker Park was developed in the mid 1970s as a free play/passive recreation area. Phase I opened in 1978. Over the years this 88-acre community park has expanded and improved to keep pace with the demands of an ever-growing Lakeland.

Completed in 1990, the Lake Parker Park Youth Soccer Complex was the premiere facility for competitive soccer in Polk County at that time.
