At the City of Lakeland Water Utilities, we’re more than just the hometown utility, we’re a committed community partner and leader. Our outreach and educational programs, initiatives, and events reflect the diversity of our customers, employees, and the communities we serve.
A water conservation, efficiency education, and outreach program can help water consumers make sound choices and preserve water resources for the future. There are lots of ways that the City of Lakeland Water Utilities connects to our customers and community:
Tours and Presentations:
Educational Programming:
Our educational programs inspire environmental awareness by highlighting the importance of water conservation. Children will discover how water and wastewater treatment work and learn why protecting our systems is crucial for clean drinking water and proper wastewater management. With engaging presentations, tours, and hands-on activities, we empower kids to be water-smart!
Lakeland Learn and Grow:
The UF/IFAS Polk Extension, in partnership with the City of Lakeland, offers FREE gardening and landscaping workshops to educate the public on Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ (FFL) principles. These workshops provide Polk County residents with practical information on how to protect natural resources while enhancing their landscapes. By applying the nine FFL principles, you can reduce your need for water, fertilizers, and pesticides, all while maintaining a beautiful, sustainable yard.
Locations and times vary each month so it's important to check the Eventbrite webpage for the most up-to-date information and for registration.
