On Monday, October 6, 2025, the Lakeland Police Department will begin accepting applications for 911 Emergency Communicators.

The job posting will go live at 8:00 a.m. and will remain open to the first 50 qualified applicants.

No Experience Required - All training will be provided for qualified candidates. Candidates with experience may start at a higher salary.

SALARY

The pay for a 911 Emergency Communications Specialist (ECS) is unique. In a two-week period, operators work 7 days of 12 hour shifts. Specialists are paid for 80 hours plus 8 hours of built-in overtime. This means the pay is actually higher than the advertised base salary. Specialists also receive additional pay for working on a holiday and even get paid if the holiday falls on a scheduled day off. Also, night-shift employees receive 4% additional pay.
