Did you know that Lakeland Linder International Airport has an Approach Lighting System?
An Approach Lighting System with sequenced flashing lights (ALSF) is one of the key components of aviation lighting. It's purpose is to provide visual guidance and help pilots land safely during low visibility conditions by defining the correct approach path toward the runway threshold.
ALSF is a critical aid for pilots during the crucial moments before landing, enabling them to approach the runway smoothly and safely. Additionally, ALSF also helps pilots to spot the runway from a distance and to identify its orientation. As a result, ALSF plays an important role in ensuring the safety of both pilots and passengers. It is essential for airport authorities and technicians to regularly inspect, maintain, and upgrade the ALSF system to ensure its proper functioning. This helps minimize hazards and reduce the chances of accidents, making air travel safer for everyone involved.
