LAKELAND, FL (April 29, 2021) | The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is hosting a Virtual Public Workshop to review design plans for the I-4 wildlife crossing located in northeast Lakeland. A map showing the project limits is above. The workshop will be held completely online on the project website, SWFLroads.com/I4/wildlifecrossing; with no live component. 

LAKELAND, FL (April 22, 2021) | Starting with the first City Commission meeting in June, the Lakeland City Commission will go back to meeting at 9 a.m. in the City Commission Chambers located at City Hall (228 South Massachusetts Avenue).  Two years ago, the Lakeland City Commission decided to look at an afternoon option after meeting at 9 a.m. for decades.  The consensus of the Commission was to try afternoon meetings to see if audience participation would increase.

LAKELAND, FL (April 16, 2021) - Governor Ron DeSantis made a visit to the City of Lakeland to announce the award of a $42.9 million grant for a multi-component project in partnership with Bonnet Springs Park. The City of Lakeland, in partnership with Bonnet Springs Park (a non-profit organization), applied to the Department of Economic Opportunity for a grant in the amount of $52 million to address flood hazard risks within the Lake Bonnet drainage basin.  The grant and project implementation will be completed by Lakes & Stormwater, a division within the Public Works Department.  The project will be initiated over the next several months and the overall project is expected to be completed over a 10-year period.
