LAKELAND, FL (November 18, 2021) | Common Ground Playground, located at Publix Charities Park (1000 East Edgewood Drive), will close December 6^th through the 10^th to complete much needed tree trimming. The Parks & Recreation team will also work on other maintenance projects in the park space during the closure. 

LAKELAND, FL (November 16, 2021) | The Lakeland History and Culture Center is currently being constructed at the Lakeland Main Library (100 Lake Morton Drive). Once completed, the new 1,400 square foot space will feature visually appealing exhibits with narratives that tell Lakeland’s story.  The Inaugural exhibit, opening in Spring of 2022, will outline the importance of the railroad and how it was a core component that helped shape Lakeland’s early history.

LAKELAND, FL (November 15, 2021) | The Lakeland Christmas Parade is a time-honored tradition, enjoyed by the community for generations.  The parade takes place on Thursday, December 2^nd.  The parade starts with a firework display over Lake Mirror at 7 p.m.  As the first firework is launched, the parade officially begins.  Leaving the RP Funding Center, the parade travels down Lemon Street toward downtown.  The parade then turns at Main Street to Cedar Street and winds around Lake Mirror, going up Orange Street and ending at the RP Funding Center.  

LAKELAND, FL (November 10, 2021) – Water Distribution crews are at George Jenkins Boulevard and Veterans Avenue to repair a water main break.  The older concrete line failed most likely due to age. Crews are excavating the area now to get to the break. The roadway of George Jenkins Boulevard is closed from Brunnell Parkway to Sloan Avenue until further notice.

LAKELAND, FL (November 7, 2021) - On Sunday, November 7, 2021, shortly after 1:10 am, uniform patrol officers responded to the 100 block of Kentucky Avenue in reference to a shooting. LAKELAND, FL (November 4, 2021) |The City of Lakeland’s Wastewater Division is working on a blocked sanitary sewer line on North Florida Avenue between Aida Street and Griffin Road. Crews have set-up a bypass operation to deploy a remote-controlled video monitoring system to determine the condition and repairs needed.

LAKELAND, FL (October 28, 2021) | On Tuesday, November 2^nd starting at 7 p.m., a contractor working for the City of Lakeland Wastewater Collection Division will be performing a sewer repair to seal off groundwater leakage into the sewer main beneath Chiles Street. The area where work will be done is adjacent to the Main Library and the Polk Museum of Art off Lake Morton.
