The Fire Prevention Division conducts fire and life safety inspections in all commercial properties within the City limits on a recurring basis, based on the type of occupancy. The inspection process is designed to help property owners and occupants prevent potential loss from fire and other safety risks by identifying and informing them of necessary measures to comply with the state-mandated Florida Fire Prevention Code.
The Lakeland Fire Department operates in accordance with Rule 69A-60.007 of the Florida Administrative Code, Florida State Statute 633.118, and the Florida Fire Prevention Code.
Our current fee structure for fire inspections is as follows:
Fire inspection fees will be included in your fire inspection report. Please do not submit payment directly, as all fees will be billed through your Lakeland Electric account.
If you would like to schedule a fire inspection or have any questions about the permitting and inspection process, please reach out to your assigned Fire Inspector.
Please provide at least 24 hours notice when scheduling an inspection. For urgent matters requiring a Fire Inspector outside their regular hours, please contact the Prevention Division at 863-834-8201.
Fire Inspectors are assigned to different areas within the department’s service area. If you're unsure who your inspector is, the Fire Inspector Finder tool can help identify the inspector assigned to your commercial address.
