City News Blog: Red, White & Kaboom Independence Day Celebration - July 3, 2024 - Lake Mirror

LAKELAND, FL (May 16, 2024) | T. Mims Corp. Red, White & Kaboom Independence Day Celebration will take place at Lake Mirror along the Frances Langford Promenade on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. – 9:15 p.m. Gary Love and the Moonlighters will entertain the crowd followed by a dazzling firework display at 9:00 p.m.

The event is free but everyone attending is asked to please bring at least one non-perishable food item that will be donated to Volunteers in Service to the Elderly (VISTE).  VISTE is a community based non-profit organization serving Lakeland, Bartow, Mulberry, and Ft. Meade.  VISTE was established in 1983 with the goal to enable elderly persons to continue living independently and safely in their own homes. The small gesture of donating non-perishable food items goes a very long way in assisting the most vulnerable members of the community.

The Independence Day festivities at Red, White & Kaboom will start with a live concert featuring Gary Love and the Moonlighters.  From humble beginnings to sold out venues, Gary Love and the Moonlighters offer a unique and unforgettable music experience. Over the last two decades, they have become one of central Florida’s premier cover bands playing fan favorites ranging in years from the 1970s to the 2020s. The band promises to deliver a show stopping live music experience that is sure to please the crowd. Members include Gary Love (vocal/guitar), Nick Gregory (lead guitar), Zach Miller (guitar), Matt Fields (bass), Josh Gonzalez (keyboard) and Jerry Escobedo (percussion). Tom Mims, President of T. Mims Corporation said, “We are always excited to sponsor Red, White & Kaboom.  Our family has been the title sponsor since 2009 and we look forward to the event every year.  Red, White & Kaboom is an excellent opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate our great country.”  He added, “We ask all those attending to bring a canned food item that will help those in need. We want everyone to have fun, but we also want to help raise awareness for VISTE and use this opportunity to have the community’s largest canned food drive.”
