Public Notice: Project Update for Griffin Road Sewer Main Replacement
LAKELAND, FL (January 25, 2024) | Kamminga & Roodvoets, Inc. is installing approximately 1,700 linear feet of 24-inch gravity sewer main and 11 manholes along a portion of Griffin Road. The project is replacing older infrastructure along Griffin Road between Providence Road and Pyramid Parkway. Currently the intersection of Griffin Road and Providence Road is closed with the detour map (attached) in effect. The intersection is tentatively scheduled to reopen on February 29, 2024 and the detour will no longer be needed. After the intersection reopens, extensive work is still needed to repave, stripe and replace sidewalks and curbs. This work is estimated to be completed early summer 2024.
The existing gravity main is in service until wastewater can be routed to the new gravity sewer main when the project is completed. This ensures water/wastewater customers are not impacted by the construction of the new sewer main. Griffin Road is currently open for both east and westbound directions. Appropriate measures and detours are in place as part of a traffic management plan for the project.
