Public Notice: South San Gully Road Closure – Western Trunkline Project

What: Temporary road closure to accommodate ongoing construction activities associated with the Western Trunkline Project.
When: Beginning Monday, October 26, 2026, for approximately two months.
Where: South San Gully Road will be closed to through traffic. A signed detour will be in place throughout the closure.
Why: To safely accommodate ongoing construction activities and infrastructure improvements associated with the Western Trunkline Project.
LAKELAND, FL (October 21, 2026) – The City of Lakeland Water Utilities Department is notifying motorists of an upcoming road closure associated with the Western Trunkline Project. Beginning Monday, October 26, South San Gully Road will be closed to through traffic for approximately two months as crews continue infrastructure improvements in the area.
During the closure, motorists will be directed to follow posted detour signage and are encouraged to allow additional travel time. Digital message boards will be placed ahead of the closure to provide advance notice to motorists.
Residents and motorists should expect increased construction activity, including crews and equipment operating in and around the work zone. Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling near the construction area and follow all posted traffic-control signage.
The City of Lakeland will continue to provide updates as the project progresses and appreciates the public's patience and cooperation while these important infrastructure improvements are completed.
