PUBLIC NOTICE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Commission of the City of Lakeland, Florida, will consider passage of the following titled ordinance(s) at a City Commission meeting which commences at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, in the City Commission Chamber at City Hall, Lakeland, Florida:
1. PROPOSED 26-023; AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LAKELAND, FLORIDA RELATING TO CODE ENFORCEMENT; AMENDING DIVISION 2 OF ARTICLE IV OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF LAKELAND, FLORIDA TO AMEND THE JURISDICTION OF THE CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
2. PROPOSED 26-024; AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LAKELAND, FLORIDA AMENDING CHAPTER 26 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF LAKELAND RELATING TO CIVIL EMERGENCIES; MAKING FINDINGS; AMENDING SECTION 26-8, ENTITLED “POLICE EMERGENCIES," IN ORDER TO REMOVE RESTRICTIONS RELATING TO FIREARMS AND OTHER WEAPONS DURING A LOCAL STATE OF EMERGENCY THAT CONFLICT WITH STATE LAW; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
3. PROPOSED 26-025; AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LAKELAND, FLORIDA RELATING TO THE AIRPORT; MAKING FINDINGS; AMENDING SECTION 14-20 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF LAKELAND, FLORIDA, ENTITLED “FIREARMS AND WEAPONS," IN ORDER TO ENSURE CONSISTENCY WITH STATE AND FEDERAL LAW; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
4. PROPOSED 26-026; AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LAKELAND, FLORIDA RELATING TO DROUGHT CONTROL; AMENDING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 38 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF LAKELAND, FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR ENFORCEMENT AND APPEAL PROCEDURES; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
INTERESTED PERSONS may inspect such proposed ordinances at the City Attorney's Office in City Hall and may appear and be heard at the meeting with respect to the proposed ordinances. Anyone deciding to appeal a decision by the City Commission on the above subject matter at this hearing will need a record of the proceedings and, for purposes of that appeal, may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceeding is made, including the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be made.
