City News Blog: Memorial Boulevard Revitalization Study Survey and Public Meeting

LAKELAND, FL (January 14, 2025) | The City of Lakeland is partnering with Ayres, a planning, design, and engineering firm, to conduct an Economic Development Strategy study aimed at revitalizing the Memorial Boulevard corridor. The study seeks to take a proactive and unified approach to drive economic growth and enhance the corridor’s potential.

Key objectives of the study include:

  • Developing an economic development vision through community engagement.
  • Crafting innovative strategies that align with local planning initiatives and upcoming infrastructure improvements.
  • Outlining clear, actionable steps for implementation.

As one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation, Lakeland is focused on strengthening its Memorial Boulevard corridor, which stretches 6 miles between I-4 and East Lake Parker Drive in the northern part of the city. With significant public infrastructure investments underway, the City of Lakeland aims to revitalize Memorial Boulevard (US 92) to attract new investments, support surrounding residential communities, improve pedestrian safety, boost the local economy, and create more job opportunities.

The City of Lakeland invites your feedback on the current state of Memorial Boulevard and your vision for its future. To learn more, visit https://lakelandgov.net/MemorialBlvd. You can also complete the survey via the link provided on the page: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MemorialBlvd.

An informational meeting will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the Coleman Bush Building (1104 Martin L. King Jr. Avenue) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. City staff will be available to answer questions following the presentation, and informational displays will outline potential developments along the Memorial Boulevard corridor.
