Public Notice: Temporary Road Closure On East Main Street For CSX Rail Crossing Repairs
LAKELAND, FL (April 23, 2025) | On Thursday, May 1, CSX Transportation will be conducting critical maintenance on the rail crossing located at E. Main Street and Bartow Road (US98). To facilitate these repairs, E. Main Street will be temporarily closed from Bartow Road to Ingraham Avenue starting at approximately 8:00 a.m. The maintenance work is expected to take several hours to complete.
The repairs will involve replacing damaged wooden railroad ties between the tracks, significantly improving the smoothness of the crossing for motorists. To ensure public safety and efficient traffic flow, the City of Lakeland, and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will assist CSX by setting up detour routes and managing road closures.
Detour Information:
- Westbound Traffic on E. Main Street:
Detoured south on Ingraham Avenue, then west on Bartow Road, and north on Bartow Road back to E. Main Street. - Eastbound Traffic from Bartow Road:
Detoured south on Bartow Road, then east on Lime Street, and north on South Lake Parker Avenue back to E. Main Street.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, follow posted detour signs, and exercise caution in the area while the work is underway.
