Notice of Intention to Utilize Method of Collecting Non-Ad Valorem Assessments for Heatherpoint

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO UTILIZE UNIFORM METHOD OF COLLECTING NON-AD VALOREM ASSESSMENTS


NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Commission of the City of Lakeland, Florida, at a City Commission meeting which commences at 9:00 A.M. on Monday, December 16, 2024, in the City Commission Room at City Hall, 228 S. Massachusetts Avenue, Lakeland, Florida, will hold a public hearing pursuant to Section 197.3632, Florida Statutes, to consider adoption of a resolution setting forth the City of Lakeland’s intention to utilize, beginning with the tax bills issued in November, 2025, the uniform method of collecting non-ad valorem assessments as set forth in Section 197.3632, Florida Statutes, to collect a non-ad valorem assessment against all lots abutting that certain private portion of Heatherpoint Drive located north of Audubon Oaks Circle in Lakeland, Florida in order to recoup costs incurred by the City for certain stormwater and roadway improvements to such portion of Heatherpoint Drive. The assessment per lot for the roadway improvements will be $356.00 per year, which sum will be in addition to the current annual non-ad valorem assessment of $706.00 for the stormwater system repairs, such that the total annual non-ad valorem assessment per lot will be $1,062.00. For those lots that have prepaid in full the assessment for the stormwater system repairs, the total annual non-ad valorem assessment per lot will be $356.00.
INTERESTED PERSONS may inspect such proposed resolution at the City Attorney’s Office in City Hall and may appear and be heard at the meeting with respect to the proposed resolution. Anyone deciding to appeal a decision by the City Commission on the above subject matter at this hearing will need a record of the proceedings and, for purposes of that appeal, may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, including the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be made.
