Public Notice: Portion of East Main Street Will Be Impacted By Paving Project

LAKELAND, FL (July 18, 2024) | City of Lakeland contractors will be working on a milling and paving repair on East Main Street, between South Ingraham Avenue and South Lake Parker Avenue.  This is an immediate scheduled repair because of the contractor’s availability.  The asphalt repair is needed after an abandoned water pipe was removed from under the eastbound lane in preparation for a larger paving project that will take place later in the Fall.  The larger project will include resurfacing East Main Street from Bartow Road to North Fern Road.  The eastbound lane of East Main that was impacted by the water pipe removal is now uneven and bumpy creating a hazard. The work is expected to be completed in one day. Traffic control signs will be in place and eastbound traffic will be detoured to Rose Street. Westbound traffic will not be affected by the project.  Milling before paving is common practice and prevents driveway and ADA ramp adjustments due to increasing pavement heights.  Once the roadway is milled, paving will take place.
