LAKELAND, FL (February 3, 2021) | This year will be the Tigers' 85th season for Spring Training at Tiger Town, extending the longest-standing relationship between a Major League team and a current Spring Training host city. The 2021 spring season will be the club’s 56th consecutive season of playing at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium. The Detroit Tigers will start arriving for Spring Training on February 17^th when pitchers and catchers report to Lakeland a few days ahead of the position players who are scheduled to arrive on February 22^nd.  

LAKELAND, FL (November 10, 2020) | The City of Lakeland is hosting the 6^th Annual Holly Jolly Jingle Bell Jog on Saturday, December 12^th.  This festive 5K race takes place on Three Parks Trail, and this year there will be a 7 a.m. staggered start time along with a virtual option

LAKELAND, FL (November 4, 2020) | This year, Snowfest will look a little different but the show will still go on as the City of Lakeland Celebrates the 40^th Anniversary of this holiday tradition.  Snowfest 2020 will take place on Friday, December 4^th and Saturday, December 5^th from 6-9 p.m. at the Frances Langford Promenade at Lake Mirror.

LAKELAND, FL (October 15, 2020) | Due to overwhelming interest in the upcoming Swan Sale, the City of Lakeland will be holding a lottery tomorrow (10/16) at 11 a.m. to randomly select individuals who are interested in purchasing a pair of the City’s swans at $400 per swan. 

LAKELAND, FL (September 25, 2020) | The Martin Luther King Junior Parade Committee and the City of Lakeland have made the decision to cancel the upcoming 2021 Reverend Dr. MLK Jr. Parade due to the unknowns and obstacles created by the Coronavirus pandemic.

LAKELAND, FL (September 22, 2020) | The City of Lakeland Parks Division will be on Lake Morton at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6^th for the 40th Annual Swan Roundup. 

LAKELAND, FL (August 26, 2020) | The Junior League of Greater Lakeland, the organizers of the Lakeland Christmas Parade and the City of Lakeland have made a decision to cancel the 2020 Lakeland Christmas Parade due to the complications of COVID-19.  The organizing committee has obvious concerns regarding the pandemic and the unknowns of what impacts the virus may have going forward. 

LAKELAND, FL (July 28, 2020) | The City of Lakeland's summer recreational camp program, Camp BLAST, will be closed at the Kelly Recreational Complex location (404 Imperial Boulevard) for two days starting today and will reopen on Thursday, July 30^th  in order for staff to deep clean the facility due to possible COVID-19 related contact. Camp BLAST is scheduled to end on Friday, July 31^st at both Kelly Recreation Complex and Simpson Park locations.

LAKELAND, FL (July 13, 2020) | The City of Lakeland has been awarded a Level I Accreditation by The ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program and The Morton Arboretum for achieving particular standards of professional practices deemed important for arboreta and botanic gardens.

LAKELAND, FL (June 2, 2020) | Following the direction from Governor DeSantis’ Office and Executive Order 20-131, the City of Lakeland will continue a phased reopening of Park spaces.
