LAKELAND, FL (July 19, 2022) - Construction on Summit Consulting’s new nine-story, 135,000 square foot office building and 450 space parking garage located at 117 N. Massachusetts Avenue, has been completed and employees are now occupying the space. As part of the Sale and Purchase Agreement, the City of Lakeland pre-paid $2.5 million toward a 30-year parking lease that allows the public to use a portion of the parking garage on nights and weekends.

LAKELAND, FL (July 18, 2022) - The Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Department recently partnered with the Historic Lake Morton Neighborhood Association to raise money to install decorative lights on one of the grand oaks located on the lawn of the Lakeland Public Library (100 Lake Morton Drive).

LAKELAND, FL (June 13, 2022) | The City of Lakeland is pleased to announce the promotion of Jason Willey to Assistant Director of Economic Development.  The position will report directly to Brian Rewis, Director of Community & Economic Development and Willey will continue to work with the City Manager on special projects as assigned.

LAKELAND, FL (May 19, 2022) | Since 1985, Historic Lakeland, Inc. and the City of Lakeland’s Historic Preservation Board have recognized people and organizations doing the important work of historic preservation in our community at an annual awards ceremony. The event is held in May in recognition of Historic Preservation Month.

LAKELAND, FL (May 2, 2022) | May is Historic Preservation Month! This event was created by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 1973 to celebrate the diverse and irreplaceable historic places that are important to people across the United States. Since then, local preservation groups, state and local governments, and business and civic organizations have recognized Historic Preservation Month through special events, proclamations, and other unique activities. 

LAKELAND, FL (February 2, 2022) | The public is invited to join the City of Lakeland in celebrating Black History Month at Jackson Park on February 19^th from 10 a.m. - to 2 p.m. for the Annual Black History Festival. The event will be a fun-filled, family-friendly day that will include performances, food vendors, crafts, and historic displays.  There will be members from the City of Lakeland’s Parks & Recreation Department on hand giving away free plants while supplies last.

LAKELAND, FL (January 13, 2022) | Starting February 7^th, the City of Lakeland invites the community to join on an educational adventure by visiting City facilities to learn about Lakeland’s Black History pioneers. This self-led activity encourages explorers young and old to learn about local individuals of color that helped shape Lakeland’s history.  For those unable to visit the locations in person, there is an online option at  www.lakelandgov.net/discoverytrail. 

LAKELAND, FL (January 3, 2021) | Festivities honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Junior and MLK Day include a jazz concert taking place the evening of Friday, January 14^th, and the MLK Parade on Saturday, January 15^th.
