LAKELAND, FL (March 11, 2024) | A wetlands/protected wildlife and plants survey is planned to start on Monday, March 11, 2024, in the Lake Bonnet Drainage Project area. The AECOM Biological Survey Team will be working in the community to collect data until approximately April 30, 2024. Members of the team will walk through, inspect, and photograph the area and may enter and exit from the land and/or the water to complete the required data collection.

LAKELAND, FL (February 21, 2024) | SUN n FUN Aerospace Expo is celebrating its 50^th Fly-In this year!  There are plenty of fan-favorite attractions returning along with several new experiences that will debut at this year’s Expo, April 9-14, 2024.

LAKELAND, FL (February 16, 2024) | The Lakeland Black History Festival has been rescheduled to Saturday, March 23, 2024, due to the expected inclement weather over the originally scheduled date.

LAKELAND, FL (February 15, 2024) | The City of Lakeland is hosting the Central Florida Business Expo on April 24, 2024, at the RP Funding Center, located at 701 West Lime Street, Lakeland, Florida. The event will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and aims to connect business leaders and professionals from across the region. It serves as an opportunity for companies of all sizes to showcase their products and services, meet with potential customers, and establish connections within the community.

LAKELAND, FL (February 12, 2024) | On Tuesday, February 13, 2024 the City of Lakeland Wastewater Collection Division will start work on a sanitary sewer repair that will cause Orange Street to close to through traffic between Lake Avenue and Ingraham Avenue.

On Sunday, February 11, 2024, at approximately 5:00 a.m., officers responded to a traffic crash involving a black Dodge pickup truck and a pedestrian near the intersection of US 98 South (Bartow Road) and North Massachusetts Avenue.

LAKELAND, FL (February 9, 2024) | The City of Lakeland owns and operates Se7en Wetlands, a constructed wetland treatment system that provides tertiary treatment, or final polishing for all of the City’s treated wastewater.  Se7en Wetlands is reclaimed mining area that was mined for over 60 years.  Mining operations stopped in 1984.  Shortly after, the City of Lakeland Purchased the property and then constructed the wetland treatment system in 1987.   

LAKELAND, FL (February 9, 2024) – The Detroit Tigers will begin the 2024 Grapefruit League schedule in less than two weeks as the club returns to Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, FL for the 59th consecutive season. The 2024 Spring Training season is Detroit’s 88th consecutive campaign in TigerTown, extending longest-standing relationship between a Major League Baseball team and a Spring Training host community. 

LAKELAND, FL (February 7, 2024) | The City of Lakeland was recently recognized as a Runner Friendly Community by the Road Runners Club of America.  This five-year designation will expire in 2029. The Runner Friendly designation shines a national spotlight on communities working in collaboration with public and private organizations to support running and building infrastructure to foster physical activity in a safe environment. 

  Lakeland Police Department K9s Mako and Pantera will receive bullet and stab protective vests thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.
