TALLAHASSEE, FL (August 17, 2020) | The Florida League of Cities, the united voice for Florida’s municipal governments, today announced the election of its officers for the 2020-2021 term. The officers were elected and installed during the association’s annual business meeting held virtually this afternoon.

LAKELAND, FL (August 14, 2020) | Upon arrival at the Gandy Pool at the Kelly Recreation Complex this morning (Friday, August 14, 2020), Parks and Recreation Department staff discovered a broken pipe associated with the chiller system for the pool, which also caused the water level in the pool to drop. Chillers are used during warm months to keep the water at a more manageable temperature for efficient maintenance. At this point, the break appears to have occurred due to the average life span, etc., associated with aquatics parts and pieces (exposure to weather, water, pressure, chemicals during normal wear).

LAKELAND, FL (August 13, 2020) | In coordination with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), the City of Lakeland is establishing a modern roundabout at the intersection of SR 572 (Drane Field Road) and Don Emerson Drive.  This road improvement will facilitate the anticipated increase of intersection operations and improve traffic safety.  The project is currently in the design phase with construction slated for late Spring 2021.

LAKELAND, FL (August 3, 2020) | On Monday, August 3, 2020, the Lakeland City Commission extended the resolution requiring masks/face coverings consistent with CDC guidelines for those individuals inside the Lakeland corporate limits.  The City Commission voted 5-2 in favor of the resolution with Commissioner Franklin and Commissioner Read being the dissenting votes. The new Resolution will expire at 5 p.m. on September 8, 2020, unless extended by further action of the City Commission.
