GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN: BUILDINGS FROM LAKELAND'S PAST
| | The Mayhall Auditorium |

| | Back | The Mayhall Auditorium used to stand on Massachusetts Avenue adjacent to City Hall. It was built in 1927 at a cost of $300,000. The auditorium had a seating capacity of 1500 and was the site of countless concerts and plays over the years. Originally called the City Auditorium, it was renamed in the early 1940's after long-time Lakeland High School Music director and composer, Harry Mayhall. The building was torn down in 1969 when city officials determined that the cost of renovating it would be prohibitive.
