| | Back | Congressman Herbert J. Drane lived in this home at the corner of South Dakota and Hillcrest from the time he was married in 1884 unitl his death in 1947. Originally built as a 4 room cottage, Drane added 11 additional rooms over the years. It is also reputed to be the first house in Lakeland to have indoor plumbing. The house was torn down in 1948, a year after Drane's death.
