    Main Library Closing January 27-29

The Lakeland Public Library (100 Lake Morton Drive) will be temporarily closed for three days from Monday, January 27 through Wednesday, January 29, 2025. During the closure, staff will be relocating Youth Services collections and furniture back into the building from an offsite location.

This closure follows significant updates to the children’s area, including new flooring, ceiling, lighting, HVAC system, fresh paint, and new furniture. The updates mark the completion of a multi-year comprehensive construction project that has enhanced the entire facility.

While the library is closed, the book drop will remain available, and patrons can pick up reserved items curbside. To schedule a curbside pickup, please call 863-834-4263 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The library is eager to unveil the newly renovated space and looks forward to welcoming visitors when it reopens on Thursday, January 30, 2025. For more information, please contact Library Administration at 863-834-4270.

Lakeland History & Culture Center Lecture Series

Join us at the Larry R. Jackson Branch Library (1700 North Florida Avenue) on Thursday, January 23rd at 5:30 PM as  Dr. Hogans shares from her inaugural work, "From the Porch," which draws from the roots of ancestral storytelling and word-weaving.

"From the Porch" is rooted in a place of antiquity, resounding a message of hope and overcoming in a culture of social and economic marginalization. Its southern dialect in fiction binds the experiences of the late-1800s to the mid-1900s that are revealing for today’s culture.
